One of the all time great TV shows ever, Dragnet with Jack Webb was one of the all time best TV detective shows. My father used to watch this show every week without fail. I enjoyed the show then too, but I have been watching more of it lately...
Pros: Funny as hell! Cons: I don't think the producers meant for it to be.
I've been exposed to Dragnet in one form or another since I was a kid. As my Father is a man who has a certain affinity for old-time radio shows, I heard some of his tapes while I was young. I also saw several television episodes, and still watch...
Pros: Excellent '60s-era Los Angeles texture Cons: Incredibly bad dialogue, direction and acting
I have a peculiar affinity for this hokey old chestnut, with its stilted dialogue and singularly stiff delivery. Perhaps it stems from my love of a bygone Los Angeles, former City of Promise. Or perhaps from the fact that my parents met, fell in love and...
Pros: Decent content and okay for kids to watch! Cons: None that I seen.
I watched this a lot when I was younger and thought it was great! If you have kids or are opposed to shows with a lot of violence then this police drama would be perfect! I'm not saying that it didn't have any violence in it but what little action...
Pros: Webb does a good Akroid Cons: Actors like statues
My Aunt Hazel went and got herself cable TV. Ya would not believe all those there channels she can tune in! Anyway we were a watchin a show in TV Land (where is that anyway? I think it borders Minnysota)...and this remake type spoof on the movie...
Dragnet was and is a very popular show. Originally a radio show; then a black and white television show in the 1950s; it returned in color in the late 1960s. With Jack Webb as Joe Friday [whose famous line was 'Just the Facts, Ma'am']; and his lovable...
Friday and Gannon take us back to a more innocent time, when good won out over evil (at least on TV) and they could always be counted on to catch the bad guys, often with a stern reading of the L.A. County riot act for good measure.
Pros: clean, good stories, true to the times Cons: Only on TV Land
I love this show as it is the one that actually stars Jack Webb. Man, this guy can talk a blue streak through anyone. He makes great points about why it's wrong to do drugs, or steal, or lie, or whatever the situation may be. I sometimes wish we could...
Pros: Jack Webb is great as is Harry Morgan Cons: The show is dated
Dragnet is one of my favorite shows to watch, and i am happy TV Land is showing them again. I do not think however, that this is a show for kids, or even a show kids would enjoy. Compared to the 1st run of this show in the 50's this version is like a...
Pros: hippies on acid Cons: commercial before judges vedict at end
I love this show. If you have ever watched this show, you know the language in it sounds like a foreign film dubbed to english. Joe Friday and Bill Gannon speak in a fast mono-tone while busting the bad guys in '60's L.A.
All the stories...
Pros: Great drama, realistic storylines Cons: May not be sutable for everyone
Ahh, Joe Friday, a man who takes his job seriously. That's just one reason I watch Dragnet. It gives a somewhat chilling look into the underground of 0's drugs and crime. Set in Los Angelas, Dragnet is about two police officers in the narcotics division....
This is one of the all time "good" TV Shows. The good guys win and justice is served. This show teaches that crime doesn't pay, and that honesty and integrity are right! We need shows like that today.
i think that there a lot of modern cop shows on today that try to be like this classic show. there is no one, not even dan ackroyd who can take the place of jack webb.classic scenes that i remember are when the groovy kid was high on speed and other...
When will we see the DVD's?? by johnnyrb ,Jun 21 '04
Pros: Quotes from Joe Friday Cons: Kind of get tired seeing the same actors.
In 2004, we're seeing DVD releases of just about every television show from the 60's and 70's...but no color DRAGNET. I own 20 of the original B&W episodes on DVD, but in my opinion, they don't compare to the color episodes. It's time these episodes are restored and made available. I'd buy them in an instant.
